DAVI HERMES SOUZA DE OLIVEIRA – 15105/2003 São Luis do Maranhão, a Northeastern Brazilian city. (T21)
At the age of 3 months Davi started with swimming as a stimulation activity. Serious training started at the age of 12. He then began participating in local competitions. Since then he has achieved significant results at a national level, competing in the open category. Davi practices daily doing physical activities, swimming and functional gymnastic. He participates in Regional Federation events as well as Nationals events organized by the Brazilian Confederation of Sports for the Intellectually Disabled (CBDI). Role models for Davi i are Michael Phelps and Cesar Cielo. In 2018 he was was world champion in the 25m butterfly and freestyle at the 9th DSISO Swimming Championships in Canada. He also won a bronze medal in the 25m backstroke. Davi currently holds seven Pan-American junior records with DSISO. In December, 2018 he obtained a junior world record in 200m butterfly. Katya Vazhenin (DOB – January 10, 2003.) Atlanta, Georgia. USA 
Katya started swimming summer league at the age of 6. She expanded to year round training at the age of 10 in Swim Atlanta club. Starting last year, she added high school swimming to that list. She has won 9 Gold and 2 Silver medals at US Nationals (Atlanta, GA , USA. July 2017 ). She holds 3 World Junior and 6 Pan American/US National records. Katya is bilingual in English and Russian. She sings, plays piano, and competed in rhythmic gymnastics from the age of 4 to 10. Her future plans include improving her times in swimming and proudly representing the USA at all possible international level competitions performing her best achievements for years to come. She is hoping to become an assistant coach for the US National Team when she finishes her active competition carrier. World Championship participation with the US National Teams include Truro, Canada in 2018 (Bronze medal 800 Freestyle Relay) and Aguascalientes, Mexico in 2017 (Silver medal 1500 Freestyle). /next/
Leo Pellow, St Ives, Cornwall, United Kingdom (Born: 9th September 2002) (T21) 
Leo started learning to swim when he was four and has always had a great love of being in the water. Leo started in the sport of Surf Life Saving where he took part in his fist pool and sea competitions at the age of 7. He later joined St Ives Bay Swimming Club and started competing in local galas. At the age of 8 he won an Endeavour cup, competing as the only disability swimmer in the local town harbour race. At the age of 12 Leo had his first experience of Down Syndrome swimming competitions when he took part in the European Open competition held in Southampton, England each year. He came away with a heat gold medal and a number of ribbons and a great awareness of what Down Syndrome swimmers could achieve. In the same year he moved to the Junior age group at Surf Life Saving, taking part in the Nationals where he competed in events such as carrying a full weight manakin (54kg) the length of the 50m pool, as the only disability swimmer. Leo also competes as an S14 swimmer and has open qualifying times at Regional level and has also competed in the National Junior Para competition and Learning Disability Nationals, representing St Ives Bay Swim Club. He also enjoys taking part in local sea swim competitions and biathlons. Now in his final year at school, Leo holds 6 DSISO Junior World Records in 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle long course, 800m and 1500m freestyle long and short course and European records in 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle. During the summer season, Leo swaps the pool for the beach where he loves to kayak and surf as well as training with the St Ives Surf Life Saving Club. He can often be found paddling his kayak across the beach with loads of local children either balanced on his kayak or being towed along behind. /next/
Minke Janse van Rensburg, South Africa, Born 04 October 2004.
Minke Janse van Rensburg is a George (South-Africa) resident with Down Syndrome (T21) who is not discouraged by her disability in anyway whatsoever. In her mind, she is as good a sport person as anybody else and her outstanding achievements results from hours of dedication, motivation and practice, and of course the support and encouragement from her coach, family and friends. Only 6 months after her very first school gala, at the age of 13, she represented South-African at the 9th DSISO world championship where she set a new 50m freestyle junior world record and received bronze in the open category of this event, beaten only by swimmers twice her age. She also took silver for both the 25m junior butterfly and freestyle events and another bronze as part of the South-African relay team for the woman 200m free 4 x50m relay.
Minke turned 17 on the 4th of October 2021 and already holds 4 World records and 3 junior world records. These are the 25m and 50m freestyle short course and the 50m and 100m Freestyle long course open world records. The junior world records are the 100m freestyle and 25m breaststroke short course and the 200m long course records. /next/
