1st Open European Tri-Games 2021

A very successful SUDS Open European TriGames has come to an end. Countries were delighted to be able to get-together after the worldwide shut-down of sporting events, due to Corona Virus pandemic. Our swimmers were so excited to be able to compete once again. It was very different – masks had to worn at all times, proof of vaccination, temperature checks and plenty of sanitizing at all times. No spectators were allowed into to swimming venue due to Covid Protocols. Thanks to the organizers, the competition was livestreamed.
A total of 15 Countries participated. 14 European: Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Spain, France, Italy, Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, United Kingdom, Russia. 1 Open: United States of America.
87 swimmers – 51 men & 36 women (4 Mosaic women).
There were only 2 Artistic teams competing – Italy & Poland. Congratulations to Poland who only started training in March this year, put on excellent performances. We look forward to welcoming many more Artistic swimmers to our competition in Albufeira, Portugal next year.

TOP SWIMMER AWARDS:
T21 – Camino Martinez – Spain . Camino broke 3 World Records (100, 200 & 400 freestyle) and 6 European Records (50,100,200,400 freestyle; 100 & 200 backstroke).
MOSAIC – Ellen Stephenson – Great Britain. Ellen broke 6 World Records (100 & 200 freestyle; 50,100,200 backstroke & 100 Individual Medley)
T21 – Vincente Pereira – Portugal. Achieving this top award as a Junior was an amazing achievement. This is the first time in DSISO history. Vicente broke 3 World Records (25, 50 & 100 Butterfly) and 6 World Junior Records (50 freestyle, 25 Breast, 25,50,100 Butterfly and 100 Individual Medley).
RECORDS
In spite of the disruption to swimming training during 2020 due to the pandemic, our swimmers still managed to swim amazing times, breaking world and regional records.
A total of 7 T21 World Records were recorded – 4 Women & 3 Men. The Mosaic ladies broke a total of 10 World Records.

Covid-19 & Healthcare Protocols
The lst Open European Tri-Games will take place in Ferrara, Italy from 4-11th October 2021. 7 Sports, 8 disciplines. Sports will include athletics, swimming, artistic, table tennis, futsal, basketball, tennis and judo.
